About Us
Bridging the gap between corporate consulting and the dynamic energy of the global gig economy.
Who We Are
Gig Economy Lane is headquartered in South Africa and serves clients across South Africa, Europe, and international markets. We are a professional services firm specialising in technology recruitment, HR consulting, policy advisory, and corporate training — helping organisations find top talent, develop their people, and build inclusive, high-performance workplace cultures.
Founded by Lerato Motaung, the practice was built on a conviction that people-centred thinking and practical workplace delivery are not in conflict — they are the same thing. From placing senior engineers in Amsterdam to facilitating GBV policy workshops in Johannesburg, every engagement is guided by the same standard: if it does not move people forward, it is not worth doing.
Today, Gig Economy Lane works with CEOs, HR leaders, and frontline teams across financial services, hospitality, and the technology sector — delivering programmes that are contextually grounded, legally sound, and immediately actionable.

Meet Lerato Motaung
Founder | Human Capital Strategist
Lerato Motaung is a dynamic Human Capital Strategist with expertise spanning global technology recruitment, HR consulting, and corporate training across South Africa and international markets. She has delivered impactful people solutions to organisations across financial services, hospitality, and mobility — including Standard Bank, ABSA, Avis, and Tsogo Sun — advising on employee relations, workplace culture transformation, GBV policy compliance, and customer service excellence.
Her global credentials are underscored by her delivery of end-to-end technology recruitment mandates for three of the Netherlands' most prominent banking institutions — ABN AMRO, Rabobank, and ING Bank — placing specialist talent across software engineering, data, cloud infrastructure, and fintech roles in Amsterdam and beyond.
At Gig Economy Lane, Lerato has built a practice that bridges the gap between strategic people thinking and practical workplace delivery. She works with CEOs, HR leaders, and frontline teams to design training and HR frameworks that are contextually grounded, legally sound, and immediately actionable. Known for her high-energy facilitation style and her deep commitment to the South African workplace context, she brings both international rigour and local cultural intelligence to every engagement.
Lerato's approach is rooted in a firm belief that when people are equipped, respected, and understood, organisations perform better — and that meaningful workplace transformation is one of the most powerful drivers of socioeconomic change on the continent. Whether she is placing a senior engineer in Europe or facilitating a GBV policy workshop in Johannesburg, her standard remains the same: if it does not move people forward, it is not worth doing.
